Hello all,
I am currently working on importing our risk registers and wanted to get some advise and best practice on what to name your risk objects. Do you use the risk title only (a few words), include the risk codes with the risk title or just use a unique code? I am thinking ahead when creating a report with a sunburst and I want the risk title to be displayed on the chart. Therefore, am I better off using only the risk title as the object name? Or will this cause any issues elsewhere?
Hope that makes sense!
Thanks,
Ling
Hi Gareth,
Thank you for your reply, that's really helpful.
After pondering this, I think it's perhaps easier to name my objects using a coding/name convention to limit the potential for duplicating object names because as you explained, they must all be unique and so far I have come across this as an issue a couple of times using just the short title. This will also help in the Power Query I think!
Also, I think I may actually populate the 'reference' as the title and keep the description field as the full description. I can amend the visualisations to display the reference which will then show my risk titles.
Thanks again for aiding me through my thought process!
Ling
Hi,
What you name your risk objects is completely within your control but you should be aware that InPhase does not allow duplicated object names. You could use a naming/code convention and populate the fuller title as the description, and you may then decide to amend visualisations to display the description name rather than the object name.
Once potentially influencing factor is that in the Power Query you can currently only search for specific object(s) via its name (not description). You would have to use a criteria to do that!
